The Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations is the institution of the Peruvian Government in charge of all matters related to women and vulnerable populations in the country.
It's mission is to turn Peru into a country where all people are equal, live without discrimination and with equal opportunities.
The ministry was created in 1996 under the name Ministry of the Promotion of Women and of Human Development which was changed in 2002 to Ministry of Women and Social Development and in 2012 to its current name Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations.
However its work remained the same: to design, establish, promote, execute and supervise public policies in favor of women, girls, boys, adolescents, the elderly, people with disabilities and internal migrants, to guarantee the exercise of their rights and a life free of violence, lack of protection and discrimination within the framework of a culture of peace.
