Peru has a vibrant theater scene, and you surely will find something for your taste. There are many theaters presenting not only classic theater but also cultural presentations, modern theater, experimental theater, dramas, dance performances, theater for children and not to forget shows and plays in many small theater bars. Most presentations are in Spanish, but don’t worry, even if your language skills aren’t perfect, it’s Art – you’ll understand.
It’s always difficult to judge over cultural institutions and tell you which one is the best. All theaters, big or small work very hard, have brilliant actors and present magnificent performances and plays that promise a nice and entertaining afternoon or evening.
Peru has an amazing and rich historical and cultural past. For hundreds of years, the country has been a melting pot of different cultures and ethnic groups. The legacy of ancient cultures, combined with the traditions and customs of immigrants, especially from Europe, Asia, and migrants from the Andes and jungle, makes Peru a unique and diverse country. This also reflects in a rich cultural scene. In the capitol of Lima, next to ancient constructions, churches, museums, theaters, and cinemas, you find an uncountable selection of cultural centers.
The cultural centers in Lima are dedicated to promote foreign and Peruvian culture, offering, for example, language classes or arts seminars, showing theater plays, organizing music and folklore events or have amazing galleries and libraries.
Peru has not only many historical churches to visit and admire but also a lot of “normal” Houses of God, where the mainly catholic community can pray and live their religious life. These are often worth a visit. Even if your Spanish isn’t perfect, celebrating the Holy Mass, especially on a religious day in one of these churches, is amazing. You will find some international churches and denominations in Peru where you can attend church services, for example, in English, German, or pray to “your” God.
Peru has lots to offer to its visitors: an amazing history with many archaeological sites spread around the country, an incredible nature incl. dessert on the coast, tropical beaches in the north, the Andean highlands and the Amazon jungle and a highly praised cuisine. If you are looking for even more and love to try your luck during your visit, no problem. Gambling in Peru is legal, so are online casinos, lottery gaming and pari-mutuel wagering. And while Peru and Lima in particular surely isn't Las Vegas, the gambling and gaming scene is booming.
