La Tarumba is the most important and surely the most popular circus company in the country and one of the most successful independent cultural organizations in Peru.

La Tarumba was founded in 1984 with the idea of combining theater, circus, and music while at the same time educating and integrating less privileged members of the Peruvian society building a better Peru. A great success! Today, nearly 40 years later, La Tarumba is the most recognized and highly successfull circus theater in Peru, presenting yearly usually two amazing, creative, innovative, and truly Peruvian shows on a high professional level of showmanship.

The structural elements of La Tarumba’s artistic proposal always were and till today are the circus, the theater, and the music, while humor, colors and images are their way of communicating.

Using all senses, La Tarumba creates imaginary universes in their absolutely stunning shows, taking the viewers on a journey full of emotions that touch our hearts. The stories La Tarumba tells, the whole environment they create, the live music played during the show, and the highly professional artists are amazing, very Peruvian, very funny, very special.

If you are in Lima or any other city in Peru when they perform, visiting a La Tarumba show is a must. Entertainment full of music, circus, fantasy, and magic for the whole family.

Next to performing and taking part in multiple festivals and tours, national and international, one huge part of La Tarumba’s work is education. With the goal to achieve integrated development of children and young adults of all social backgrounds in Peru, La Tarumba developed a highly successful program training young people in life-skills through theater, circus and music, to improve their employability, leadership skills, self-esteem, creativity and social inclusion.

Furthermore, La Tarumba offers fantastic workshops for children and adolescents introducing them to the La Tarumba world of circus, theater, and music, and theater, circus and acrobatics workshops for adolescents and adults. Additionally, La Tarumba operates the first professional circus school in Peru, training artists not only in the skills and abilities needed in the performing circus disciplines but also in management, leadership, and social engagement.
