Already in its 32 edition the Gran Corso de Wong, a beloved and by now traditional part of the Fiestas Patrias celebrations in Lima, returns to the streets of Miraflores on July 14, 2019.
The Corso is a huge about 5-6-hour long parade consisting of Peruvian folkloric dancers, traditional costumes and music from all over the country, marching bands, school orchestras, and even Chinese dragons – Erasmo Wong, founder of the Wong supermarket chain and initiator of the first Wong parade was a Chinese immigrant and brought cultural elements of his new and old home country together.
The Wong Parade is a huge display of Peruvian national pride and shows the diversity of the country. Expect as well countless colorful floats and other moving devices, Miss Peru and other public figures, a circus-like, happy atmosphere, fireworks and other surprises for the grand finale and lots of spectators.
For the first 28 editions, the Wong Parade was held in the center of Miraflores, before switching to Surco in 2016. Now the Gran Corso is back on its traditional route in Miraflores.
The Gran Corso Wong starts in Miraflores at the intersection of Av. 28 de Julio with Av. Reducto, runs along Av. 28 de Julio, Av. Larco and the Ovalo Miraflores to end at the intersection of Av. Diagonal with Calle Berlin.
A must see. Have fun and enjoy.
