Founded in 1981, La Republica is one of Peru's main national dailies.

The center-left newspaper, which was a staunch opponent of the government of former President Alberto Fujimori (1990–2000), is well known for its unvarnished and forthright revelations which caused the downfall of the one or the other politician.
