Opened in December 1980 in the noble district of San Isidro with exquisite shops, restaurants, cinemas and even a skating rink Camino Real was for about 10 years the shopping center in town. In 1992 the shopping mall was raided by terrorists. After this Limeños stopped visiting the mall. Today you find only a few offices, travel agencies and apparel stores.
The Centro Comercial Camino Real marks the beginning of a Western style shopping mall culture in the country.
