There are central emergency phone numbers for the Peruvian police and the fire department. Amazingly, Peru is only covered by voluntary fire brigades and the service they provide is - at least in Lima - excellent! Tourists and foreigners living in Peru will additionally find a special police force, called tourism police, helpful. Hopefully, you'll never need them, but in case you do...

The Policía Nacional del Perú - PNP - is the national police force in the country. It has jurisdiction over Peru's land, sea and air territories.
The Tourism Police - Policia de Turismo (POLTUR) - was established in 2012 to provide a better service to foreign tourists visiting Peru and needing help or support during their stay.
In Peru we only have voluntary fire brigades. While in in Lima the different districts have very well equipped vehicles and respond to any kind of emergency quickly, in the provinces the standard unfortunately is often lower.
