Legislative Decree No. 728, also known as the Labor Productivity and Competitiveness Law, is very important legislation. Published on March 27, 1997, the regulation has a series of objectives. One of the principal objectives is to provide workers with skills to consolidate their job performance. In fact, some fundamental principles are:

  • Promote training and job training of workers as a mechanism to improve their income and work productivity.
  • Promote the transfer of people employed in urban and rural activities with low productivity and income to other activities with higher productivity.
  • Guarantee the income of the workers, as well as the protection against arbitrary dismissal, respecting the constitutional norms.
  • Unify the rules on labor hiring and merge the existing social benefits.
