The National Planetarium is owned by the Geophysical Institute of Peru. Opened in May 2010 it is the largest and most advanced planetarium in Peru offering an inviting and interesting space to learn more about astronomy and our universe. On Sundays the planetarium is open to the public.
The planetarium has a 3D hall with a three dimensional multimedia projection system that recreates our universe. The projection takes you on a journey from the earth to other planets in our solar system and galaxies at the end of the known universe. Each show last around 30 minutes.
In the dome, well-resourced with high-end equipment, five different presentations await you. Here you can learn more about the sun, orion, the history of astronomy, the equinox and the relations between stars. The shows last around 45 minutes.

Each last Sunday of a month is special. Presentacion hours of the projections differ a bit and additionally the Exhibition Hall is open to the public. Here especially children are given an understanding of astronomy in an entertaining and educational way. Sounds fun!
