The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) is an institution of the Peruvian Government in charge of the agricultural sector.
Committed to the food security of the country, the Agriculture Ministry boots a sustainable development of agriculture, prioritizing family farming, and allowing to activate development and social inclusion for the benefit of the rural population.
They promote the sustainable use of forest and wildlife resources, manage and monitor natural sources of water and implement strategies to maintain the phyto and zoosanitary status allowing the country to support the growth of national agricultural and livestock production and protecting it from the entry of pests and diseases.
The ministry further promotes the productive and commercial development of products and derivatives of livestock activity (cattle, sheep, alpacas, llamas, pigs, goats, guinea pigs and birds) and their access to markets, in coordination with the different sectors.
They strengthen and expand the access of the products of small and medium-sized farmers to national and international markets, also promoting the organization of producers, and facilitating the preparation of business plans and formalization of organizations.
