Get ready for three flavorful days in Arequipa! From September 10 to 12, the III Encuentro de Cocinas Iberoamericanas takes place in the charming Plaza de Yanahuara, showcasing the rich and diverse food cultures of Ibero-America. This event is a vibrant celebration of ancestral recipes, techniques, and regional pride, where cooking is deeply tied to identity, community, and cultural preservation.

The food festival is part of Ibercocinas, an initiative led by the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) that aims at safeguarding and promoting traditional kitchens across the Ibero-American region. This third edition brings together chefs, artisans, producers and cultural representatives mainly from Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru.

The focus of the festival is on authentic, heritage-rich dishes made with local ingredients and prepared using traditional recipes and methods. So, visitors can look forward to food stands run by traditional cooks and culinary artisans from participating countries offering freshly prepared dishes such as tamales and arepas, tortillas and baked goods, warm stews and street food, grilled meats and regionally unique specialties, all accompanied by stories about their origin and meaning.

Next to indulging in all the offered goodies, visitors can take part in Fogones (informal discussion spaces) where traditional cooks and visitors mingle over food sharing stories, cultural insights, and the history behind each dish. Additionally, there will be workshops and demonstrations like live cooking demos, heritage baking and ingredient storytelling, all designed to foster cultural exchange and appreciation.

To round it all off visitors can browse through an artisan market offering local produce, arts and crafts as well as kitchen utensils and enjoy musical and cultural performances.

The Encuentro de Cocinas Iberoamericanas 2025 in Peru is much more than a food fair; it’s a cultural journey that brings together flavors, traditions, and communities from across the Ibero-American world. For three days, Arequipa turns into a vibrant meeting point where heritage comes alive on every plate. So come hungry, curious, and ready to celebrate food as a bridge between cultures!

Enjoy your time!
