A new Exhibition at Parque de las Leyendas about pre-Hispanic Life in Lima
The Parque de las Leyendas not only houses Lima's zoo, a botanical garden and recreation areas; actually here you find 54 archaeological monuments of Lima's most extensive ancient city. The pre-Hispanic town of Maranga was continuously occupied by different cultures for over 2000 years and contained impressive buildings, numerous pyramids, palaces, temples and administrative centers. Also an ancient wall, roads, residential areas, water reservoirs and irrigation channels were part of the complex.

The "Preferential Tourism Corridor" from Lima's Airport to your Accommodation
Unfortunately attacks on taxis and robberies on the way from Lima's airport to the hotels in San Isidro, Miraflores and Barranco aren't unheard of. To tackle this problem and guarantee more safety and security for tourists visiting Lima, the new "Preferential Tourism Corridor" (Corredor turistico preferencial) from the airport to the main tourist districts and back was inaugurated.
South America's biggest gastronomic fair, Mistura, kicks off in less than 2 months here in Lima expecting half a million visitors. Under this year's motto "Diversity and Nutrition" Mistura brings together small farmers, producers, food sellers, chefs, bakers, confectioners, restaurants, food enthusiasts, Limeños and visitors from all over the world for the country's biggest gastronomic folk festival. 1st Peruvian National Flag and Manuscript of the National Anthem on display
To celebrate its 125th anniversary and Peru's National Day, the Peruvian Banco de Credito, BCP, opens its doors to the public exhibiting 60 pre-Hispanic and Republican pieces incl. textiles, ceramics, religious paintings and sculptures. But the highlight of the exhibition are two historical invaluable pieces that are displayed for the first time: the 1st Peruvian National Flag which was produced by two ladies in Peru's northern Piura and used by José de San Martin during the declaration of Peru's independence in 1821 and an original letter from 1863 written by José Bernardo Alcedo which contains details about the composition of Peru's National Anthem.
On the 18th of June the district of Barranco started with restoration works on the Bridge of Sighs. Due to this restauration the bridge will be closed to the public for 90 days. The works include the replacement of damaged wood segments with imported pine wood from Oregon, treatment against the high humidity and the installation of new LED illumination.

On the 30th of May is National Potato Day; a time to celebrate one of the most important food crops in the world originating in Peru.
Throughout this week countless restaurants around Lima pay homage to the famous root vegetable by offering special menus and drinks using the great variety of native Peruvian potatoes.
