LimaEasy's Editors Corner

We really don't like the word "Blog" but we have to admit that the Editors Corner is the LimaEasy Blog. Things change, new content gets published, an article doesn't seem to fit into any of our categories or we as the editors of LimaEasy would like to air our opinions (and you are welcome to comment on them) - This is the place you'll find all that...

Major "Re-modeling" of the Districts Main Promenade

The Municipality of Miraflores will start this Wednesday 29th of May improvement works on the Larco Avenue from block 1 to 13. This avenue is one of the main arteries of the touristic part of Miraflores and the "Re-modeling" will cause serious inconveniences for motorist and visitors of the district. Also pedestrians will have difficulties transiting from the central part of Miraflores (Kennedy Park) to the Larcomar Commercial Center.

The work is supposed to have three stages. The first is the section between the Malecón Avenue "Avenida Malecón de la Reserva" (from Larcomar) up to 28th of July Avenue "Avenida 28 de Julio" for a period of 50 days. The second section will comprise about 40 days between the 28th of July Avenue and Benavides Avenue. Finally, the third stage is from Benavides Avenue to the district's central roundabout "Ovalo Miraflores" and will last about 60 days.

In a meeting with officials of the Municipality of Miraflores the responsible Engineer for this work explained that the biggest changes they will archive with this modernization of the Avenue will be: Wider pedestrian areas, implementation of cycling tracks, solar powered street illumination, updated and bigger green areas and better access for pedestrians with disabilities (blind, wheelchair...)

You should plan in advance when traveling through the area to calculate delays!

Update - 20th of October 2013

As the first sections are nearly completed the last part of the Avenida Larco will be closed from the crossing of Avenida Benavides up to the Miraflores roundabout from Monday the 21st of October.
