(Central Market) ![]() The Mercado Central located east of Av. Abancay just two blocks from Plaza Bolivar and the Congress, occupies a whole block and stretches along a wide area. Here you can buy just about anything. Inside the main building you find the food market with fresh fruits and vegetables, meat from rabbit to guinea pig to whole pigs, fish and seafood, groceries of all kinds and little food stands where ‘Mamá or ‘Jefe’ cooks a simple, but fresh and delicious menu for a few Soles. Around the building are hundreds of little stores that sell clothes, shoes, kitchen- and tableware, toys, books, everything you can think of and even alive animals. Mercado Central is a crowded, but great place for people who love this kind of shopping experience. Please don’t take any valuables with you.

(Surquillo Market) ![]() Located in the district of Surquillo, the Surquillo market is just a few blocks from Parque Kennedy in Miraflores, only a ten minute walk on Av. Ricardo Palma over the bridge. The mercado in Surquillo is an enormous, genuine and bustling place where locals do their everyday shopping. It offers great quality food for amazingly low prices. A wide range of fresh Peruvian fruits, vegetables, herbs, meat, fish, seafood and even harder to find ingredients await you. Around the market hall are hundreds of small stores selling everything from kitchen and table ware, to full meals, more groceries and even clothes. Leave all your valuables at home.

(Organic Food Market in Miraflores) ![]() Opened for the first time in December 1999 the Bioferia Miraflores is a small street market organized by local organic farmers and environmental organizations. Next to a wide selection of fresh organic fruits, vegetables and herbs, vendors at the Bioferia in Miraflores offer an assortment of natural breads, goodies, vegetarian snacks, jams, eggs, cow and goat milk products including cheese, and Peruvian coffee. While prices might be a little bit higher here, the quality of the products is first class. Definitely worth a visit!

(Organic Food Market in Surco) ![]() Since 2009 the Municipalidad of Surco and the Network of Organic Farming of Peru (RAE Peru) organize the Bioferia de Surco. At the Parque de la Amistad around 100 vendors offer a wide variety of products grown and processed without any fertilizers and chemicals. At this open air farmers market you get next to organic fruits, vegetables and herbs, also eggs, chicken, bread, soya milk, cheese, yogurt, Andean cereals and flour, honey, natural cosmetics, shirts made of organic cotton and wooden toys.

Parque de la Amistad, Surco, Lima (Organic Food Market at the Commercial Center Plaza Norte) ![]() Since June 2010 the northern cone of Lima has its own organic food market. At the Bioferia Lima Norte organic and ecological products from twelve Peruvian regions and the rural area of Lima are offered. Located within the area of the shopping mall Plaza Norte numerous vendors offer an amazing selection of products grown and / or processed without fertilizers and chemicals. Next to organic fruits, veggies and herbs you find Andean cereals and flours, bread and other grain goodies, jams, honey, oil and vinegar, tea, cacao, chicken, eggs, soya milk, natural cosmetic and medical herbs, handmade toys and much more. As the Bioferia Lima Norte opened for the first time just a few weeks ago the resonance of customers will decide if the organizers can stick to current opening hours!
