With its quite big number of modern, western style shopping centers and supermarkets, Lima doesn't have to hide behind other cities in the world. But don't we all know these shopping facilities? Aren't they all the same around the world? Therefore, while you are in Peru anyway, why not try the Peruvian approach to shopping.
Spread around Lima are numerous shopping complexes uniting a large number of merchants in one location. Here you find everything from clothes and shoes to electronic and entertainment equipment, to toys and perfumes. Mostly frequented by locals of all social classes these places offer a huge variety of products and amazing low prices. But be careful, not all is gold that glitters. It is quite common to find also counterfeit products from well-known brands offered for spectacular cheap prices.

Located in the heart of La Victoria is Gamarra, Lima's clothes district. Approx. 20,000 small to middle size shops are spread over 20 blocks. Gamarra combines a cluster of small stores with modern shopping malls. Here you can find literally everything regarding local and imported fabrics, Peruvian made clothing and accessory for sewing and needlework.
Polvos Azules "shopping center" is a cluster of small stores, spread over three floors. In Polvos Azules you can find hundreds of stores offering clothes, shoes, sports gear including running shoes and trekking boots, backpacks, bags, toys and perfumes. Well known is Polvos Azules as well for their wide range of electronic equipments.
Once being one of the most luxurious streets in Lima, the Av. Wilson, or Av. Garcilaso de la Vega as it's called today, is heavily congested by buses and cars. Anyhow on block 11 and 12 computer enthusiasts find a small heaven. Within some sort of a shopping complex hundreds of small and bigger stores sell all kind of computer hard- and software.
