A new Exhibition at Parque de las Leyendas about pre-Hispanic Life in Lima

The Parque de las Leyendas not only houses Lima's zoo, a botanical garden and recreation areas; actually here you find 54 archaeological monuments of Lima's most extensive ancient city. The pre-Hispanic town of Maranga was continuously occupied by different cultures for over 2000 years and contained impressive buildings, numerous pyramids, palaces, temples and administrative centers. Also an ancient wall, roads, residential areas, water reservoirs and irrigation channels were part of the complex.

Yesterday World Travel Awards announced its 2014 Central and South American winners at a Gala ceremony in Quito, Ecuador. Already since 1993 the World Travel Awards acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence in the tourism industry and is also known as the „Oscar of the Travel Industry". And as in previous years Peru, its hotels and companies were able to be recognized in numerous categories in South America.

1st Peruvian National Flag and Manuscript of the National Anthem on display

To celebrate its 125th anniversary and Peru's National Day, the Peruvian Banco de Credito, BCP, opens its doors to the public exhibiting 60 pre-Hispanic and Republican pieces incl. textiles, ceramics, religious paintings and sculptures. But the highlight of the exhibition are two historical invaluable pieces that are displayed for the first time: the 1st Peruvian National Flag which was produced by two ladies in Peru's northern Piura and used by José de San Martin during the declaration of Peru's independence in 1821 and an original letter from 1863 written by José Bernardo Alcedo which contains details about the composition of Peru's National Anthem.
