 The nice and small museum is dedicated entirely to the history and development of electricity in Peru. The main subjects are: pioneers, power generation, energy sources, the impact of electricity on daily life, energy saving and finally the history of electrical trains in Lima. You will find a historical archive about electricity companies and a library. A guided tour through the museum and ride on the last functional electrical train in Lima can be arranged for groups.  The Museo de Petróleo (Oil Museum) is located in the’ Parque de las Leyendas’.  The 'Interactive Imagination Museum' brought together a nice collection of educational instruments and phenomena that allow the visitor to learn more about mechanics, energy, space, life, illusion and sciences. Visitors have to experiment by their own and learn by doing. Even if most of the experiments are easy to understand, a little bit of Spanish knowledge is helpful to read the instructions, perform the experiments correctly and realize the science behind it. The ‘Parque de la Imaginación’ is mainly thought for children and teens, but very interesting und fun for adults too.

The museum displays a historical collection of the grand Peruvian writer and author José Carlos Mariátegui. Outside Latin America little is known about him; yet in Peru he has an important place in the revolutionary history.

The museum is dedicated to the famous and well-known Peruvian Navy Admiral Miguel Grau who fought in the ‘War of the Pacific’. The ‘Casa Miguel Grau’ displays a collection of photos, clothing, furniture and personal belongings of the ‘Caballero de los Mares’ (the ‘Gentleman of the seas’). Additionally there are many old documents of the Peruvian Navy in the exhibition.

Enrico Poli has gathered one of the most impressive private collections of archeological objects of Inca and other Pre-Columbian cultures as well as colonial art in Peru. Displayed are fantastic ceramics, gold and silver pieces, paintings and wooden sculptures. This museum (basically his house) is really worth a visit.

The Institute of Neurological Science (INCN) in Lima, Peru houses the only ‘Brain Museum’ in Latin America. The magnificent and amazing collection contains over 2000 brains with diverse cerebral injuries or abnormalities and foetuses, a unique assortment of pathological microphotographs and other samples of academic scientific importance in the field of neurological science. The carefully assorted exhibits show in an unique way the research and development of the neurological science from 1942 until today and its importance of diagnostic. Located in the traditional 'Casa O´Higgins' in the historical centre of Lima the archaeological museum Josefina Ramos Cox preserves the pre-Hispanic history. The Museum of Natural History was founded in 1918 to collect, conserve, investigate and exhibit organisms and samples of the Peruvian natural patrimony. It’s a real treasure chest when it comes to Peruvian flora and fauna. Displayed are objects from the Stone Age until today. Very impressive are the skeletons of a sperm whale and fossils of glacial mammals. The countless botanical, ecological and mineralogical exhibits make the museum really worth a visit.

Coronel Leoncio Prado fought in Chile, Peru, Cuba, Central America and the Philippines against Spanish oppression and along with the Peruvian resistance against Chilean occupation. The museum, located inside the Military School ‘Leoncio Prado’, is dedicated to this heroic man. It shows photos, paintings, flags and personal belongings of the national hero Coronel Leoncio Prado.

The museum was opened in November 1986 to honour and present the general public the different aspects of the life and work of the national hero Big Marshall Don Andrés Avelino Cáceres Dorregaray. The ‘Bullfighting Museum’ is located at the traditional Plaza de Acho. It shows paintings, photos, bills, the traditional dresses of the toreros, swords and other weapons. The Sculptress Maria Nuñez del Prado always wished, that her work can not only be seen by a distinguished audience at an exhibition. For that reason 'The Garden of Sculptures Museum' (a house with a big garden just at the Parque El Olivar in San Isidro) was opened in 1986. In eight areas the pieces of the artist are presented to everybody interested.

Some of the most astonishing pieces of craftsmanship of the Ayacucho region are displayed in the ‘Museum of Popular Art of Ayacucho” in Barranco, Lima. Religious Andean images like crosses, ceramics of Quinua, ‘retablos’ (altar pieces) and ‘tablas’ (crafted boards) of Sarhua are brought together with lots of dedication and love for details.

The museum is named after and dedicated to one of the most famous ‘retablistas’ and recognized popular artists of Peru. The exhibition includes popular art including ceramics, masks, crosses and ‘retablos’ (altar pieces) from Ayacucho and other interesting objects. The aim of the ‘Museo Taller Joaquín Lopez Antay’ is to preserve and investigate these unique pieces and to spread part of Peruvians cultural wealth.

Manos Peruanos (peruvian hands) offers a place to discover the creative world of Peru’s masters of folk artists that still work with traditional techniques, cultural expression, myths and legends that were used for many hundreds years by the indigenous Peruvians. The museum displays Peru’s largest private collection of contemporary art like a selection of works from the Inti Raymi National Folk Art Award and crafts from Peru’s Pacific, Andean and Amazon region. The museums shop offers a variety of hand crafted products including decorative pottery and ceramic home ware, woven textiles, modern and colonial furniture, alpaca wool clothing and accessories and traditional Peruvian folk art.

The ‘Museo de los Combatientes del Morro de Arica’ is dedicated to Colonel Francisco Bolognesi Cervantes. It displays weapons, uniforms, photos and paintings concerning the lost battle near Arica in the war against Chile. The main mission of the museum is to develop the national spirit, to be a connection point between army and civilians and to remember this glorious combat.

The fortress Real Felipe, built over 250 years ago to defend the Peruvian coast and the harbour of Callao, is the biggest and most impressive of all fortresses the Spanish crown erected overseas. Inside its walls, hallways and towers a piece of Peruvian history has survived. Since 1984 the fortress houses the museum of the Peruvian army. Military objects, uniforms and weapons of Peruvian soldiers from all epochs are shown next to models of different heroic acts of the Peruvian army.

The aim of the ‘Museum of Identification’ is to make people aware of the importance of identification and the uniqueness of each person (in Peru around one million people live without being registered and therefore without legal documents!). You are guided through the history and development of identification in Peru und the world from the early ages until today. Interesting are the images of a nomadic cave, miniatures of the Incas, native communities, Roman emperors and the birth certificate of Saint Martín de Porres (1579). Interactive modules show you the possibilities of identification today.

The significance and magnitude of the Peruvian Navy finds a place of permanent memory and recognition in the ‘Naval Museum’. The fascinating naval and maritime history of Peru is shown with archaeological testimonies, personal objects of war heroes, ship models, instruments for navigation, photos, paintings, jewellery, sculptures and documents. In the library you will find all sort of books connected with the maritime history. The museum offers an interesting ‘package’: tour through the museum (1 ½ h to 2 h) and a great 30 min. boat trip around Callao harbour. Enjoy!

The ‘Museo de la Biblia’ shows a collection of photos and replicas of the Bible. Special attention is given to the history of the Bible, their authors and translators and the printing methods.

The museum was founded in 1986 and recognized by the Peruvian National System of Museums (the INC) as scientific and cultural institution in 1989. The museum is part of the Cultural Centre Federico Villarreal. It shows over 2000 objects including ceramics of different cultures, textiles, lithic axes, music instruments and others.
